Samsung has already laid its cards on the table in the field of screens and Smart TVs, and now it’s our turn to compile the company’s most interesting proposals for this year 2022. The long-awaited new line of Samsung Neo QLED 8K and 4K televisions take the spotlight; Headlined by the flagship QN900B 8K , the 2022 Samsung TV Lineup will comprise six series, with sizes ranging from 43-inches to 85-inches.
Samsung’s premium LCD TV lineup for 2022 will consist of 4K models like the QN95B and QN90B, as well as 8K models, where we find the aforementioned QN900B, but also the QN800B. It should be noted that the models with the Neo QLED suffix will enjoy miniLED backlighting , whose advantages we will explain on another occasion.
Additionally, the external One Connect box will be included with the TV QN95B and above (Europe only), as well as The Frame , which is one of three new lifestyle TVs from Samsung with a matte LCD screen that seeks to emulate the feeling of looking at a physical work of art. Be that as it may, this will come in versions ranging from 32 to 85 inches, while the Samsung Serif will be available in variants from 43 to 65 inches.
What’s new in the Samsung 2022 TV range
The main change comes in the form of the new version of the Samsung Neo Quantum processor, which should bring about a noticeable improvement in audio and image quality across the range. Similarly, certain Neo QLED 4K and 8K models will get a refresh rate upgrade from 120Hz to 144Hz , as well as a backlight brightness gradation increase from 12-bit to 14-bit. As if that were not enough, they will support refresh rate variation and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which will undoubtedly benefit gamers with high-end equipment and graphics cards.
For the first time on Samsung TVs, Dolby Atmos sound technology is included “to deliver a truly immersive cinematic viewing experience.” To the latter we must add OTS, better known as moving object tracking, a technique that directs the movement of sound around the room, simulating going according to the action on the screen.
In terms of net sound, we can expect up to a 6.2.4 channel speaker system with 90W output, that is clear, in the case of the current flagship (Samsung QN900B).
Additionally, the alliance with Dolby is not limited only to sound, as it also extends to HDR. Therefore, it will have Dolby Vision HDR in addition to HDR10 +, HDR10 + Gaming and HLG.
TizenOS is renewed
At the software level, the Tizen OS platform awaits us again, but there will be a new Smart Hub at the center of everything to help collect and suggest content based on user preferences. It might sound trivial, but Samsung will be swapping out the bottom bar for a full-screen experience as part of an update to Tizen OS, so we’ll certainly be noticing changes early on.
Similarly, TizenOS will be divided into three sections: Media, Environment and Gaming Hub. The most interesting of the 3 is the last one, since the promise of compatibility with Nvidia GeForce Now and Stadia will allow us to enjoy the latest titles. For its part, the Environment section includes a new NFT-based art center and optional auto-rotation support for vertical videos or artwork.
With all that said, let’s see how the Samsung 2022 TV range looks.
