LG opens the possibility of using the webOS platform to any manufacturer

LG has announced a step forward in the expansion of its operating system for Smart TV, webOS, one of the most applauded by critics and the public. This news is about the possibility that they may already have other manufacturers to bring webOS TV on your TVs.

LG allows other manufacturers to use webOS TV

Beyond Android, manufacturers tend to be quite secretive with their own software developments. Samsung uses Tizen, Hisense uses VIDAA UI, and a long etcetera, among which is LG, who, to date, used webOS TV for its televisions. And it will continue to do so, only that, from now on, you will be able to watch Smart TV from another brand using this operating system.

With this move, LG expands its legacy to other brands. Till the date, more than twenty manufacturers from all over the world have already signed with the company to bring webOS to their televisions in the coming months. Names like Konka, RCA or Ayonz stand out, but we are sure that the list will grow even more and that we will get to see Smart TV from better known manufacturers in the West running with this software.

The webOS platform has focused, since its launch in 2014, on offering a user-friendly user experience, integrating artificial intelligence algorithms and promoting connectivity between different devices in the home.

Manufacturers win, user wins

This type of movement not only favors the industry and, therefore, manufacturers, who now have a greater choice, but also the user is one of the great beneficiaries of these agreements. The range of televisions with webOS TV increases and if no LG TV fits you, you will soon be able to access other models, without having to give up one of the leading Smart TV platforms on the market.
